Paris attacks in context - Islam, terrorism and the West #3

Paris attacks in context – Islam, terrorism and the West #3

The recent attacks in Paris have once again raised questions about the relationship between Islam, the west and terror. An ‘us v.s. them’ discourse is gaining new vigor, while increasingly draconian ‘anti-terror’ measures are proposed.

In this event we ask:

How may we understand the context of the Paris attacks?
Is there a connection between terror and Islam?
What is the role of Western military involvement in the Middle East?
How should we understand anti-Muslim racism?

Join us for an insightful evening and lively discussion with expert speakers:

Abulkasim Al-Jaberi – Anti-racism activist and writer
Ali Al-Jaberi – Political science instructor UvA and former Middle-East correspondent

This event is co-organized by Critical Collective and Kritische Studenten Utrecht
