Critical Film and Food night: "The World According to Monsanto"

Critical Film and Food night: “The World According to Monsanto”

Every month, Critical Collective screens a critical documentary, accompanied by a lively discussion and a tasty dinner.

January’s Film & Food Night will feature the acclaimed documentary ´The World According to Monsanto´.

Monsanto is the market-leader in genetically engineered products and a giant herbicide producer. The firm´s corporate strategy is to patent and thus own ever more varieties of seeds. As Vandana Shiva puts it: “If they control seeds, they control food (…). It’s more powerful than bombs (…) and guns.”

The film documents how Monsanto manipulates legislation and intimidates journalists and scientists who dare to speak out: Monsanto products cause birth defects, infertility, autism and cancer. They destroy animal life and threaten natural plant species with extinction.
