Book presentation followed by a discussion with the authors about documenting the own histories en collective memory in the squatting movement.

In the summer of 2014 the graphic novel “De Kraker, De Agent, De Jurist en de Stad” was published about the eviction of the Schijnheilig squat in Amsterdam, and the anti-squatting law that came into affect around that time. Both the form of the book, as well as the content are groundbreaking, and cause much commotion in the squatting scene.

This event is the first activity of a new project about the collective memories in social movements. Therefore, the presentation will be accompanied by a discussion about earlier attempts of squatters to document envision their own histories. After this there will be a debate on the pro’s and con’s of the form and content used by the authors to tell their story.

Boekpresentatie met aansluitend discussie met de auteurs over het vastleggen van de eigen geschiedenis en collectieve herinnering in de kraakbeweging

In de zomer van 2014 werd de graphic novel De Kraker, De Agent, De Jurist en de Stad uitgebracht over de ontruiming van kraakpand Schijnheilig in Amsterdam, en het kraakverbod dat in die tijd van kracht werd. Zowel de vorm van het boek als de inhoud is baanbrekend, en zorgde voor de nodige commotie in krakerskringen.

Het evenement is de eerste activiteit van een project over de collectieve herinnering in sociale bewegingen. Daarom zal de presentatie ook vergezeld gaan van informatie over eerdere pogingen van krakers om hun eigen geschiedenis te schrijven of te verbeelden. Vervolgens zal een debat plaatsvinden over de aanpak van de schrijvers en tekenaars.
